BILATERAL RELATIONS

Nepal established diplomatic relations with Bangladesh on 08 April 1972. Nepal was the seventh country to recognize Bangladesh’s sovereignty and independence. Bilateral relations between Nepal and Bangladesh are characterized by cordiality, goodwill, mutual understanding, and shared values.

Nepal and Bangladesh are close neighbours with only a narrow strip of Indian territory of about 27 kilometers in the West Bengal State separating the two countries. Bangladesh is, therefore, the third-closest country to Nepal in terms of geographical proximity.

Nepal and Bangladesh share similar views on various issues of common interests and work closely in various regional and international forums, including the UN, NAM, SAARC, and BIMSTEC.
