FOREIGN OFFICE CONSULTATIONS (FOC)

Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between Nepal and Bangladesh was established at the level of the two Foreign Secretaries on 31 July 2012 in Dhaka. The mechanism was instituted with a view to further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries and exploring potential areas of cooperation through regular consultation. The first round of consultations was held in Kathmandu on 1-2 April 2015 and the second round of FOC was also held in Dhaka on 8 October 2017.
The third round of Nepal-Bangladesh Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) was held in Kathmandu on 17 April. While the Nepali delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Ms. Sewa Lamsal, the Bangladesh delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Mr. Masud Bin Momen. During the meeting, the two Foreign Secretaries reviewed the whole gamut of Nepal-Bangladesh relations. The discussions were focused on cooperation between the two countries in the areas of trade and commerce, transit and connectivity, power and energy, tourism, culture, and education. The Foreign Secretaries also signed an MoU between the Institute of Foreign Affairs of Nepal and the Foreign Service Academy of Bangladesh.
